the subject matter. One of these things is an effective display of body
language. It is correctly said that “actions speak more than words”. Keeping
this in mind the below few points would help you prepares as regards body
language is concerned.
1. Choice of wardrobe-When we talk about
body language it also consists of your appearance. Therefore choosing a suitable
attire is very important. The interviewer would also be able to gauge your
seriousness about the job by looking at your dressing sense. Therefore it’s
important to do a little bit of homework as regards dress code of a particular
organization. It’s always a safe bet to dress up in formals if unsure.
2. Resting your feet on floor-These are
little things but may count a lot. It is advisable to rest both your feet on
floor without any movement. People often like to sit up comfortable with one
leg crossed which may depict complacency, therefore it’s better to avoid.
3. Sit still-Movement depicts nervousness.
Sit still, you can rest your back on the seat with your feet on ground, avoid
too much of change in posture. Too much of change also distracts the
interviewer
4. Talk with your mouth not with hands-It
has been seen ,that when people want to prove a point they without realizing
start using their hands, which might seem to depict aggression, therefore make
a habit of keeping your hand still and resting it on your knees. n
5. Sit forwards-The best thing is to choose
a posture which suits to be comfortable however slouching and resting on the
back may seem to be too casual, therefore try and sit straight with your hands
on knees or on the desk.
6. Body tics-If you are in a habit of body
tics when nervous then it’s time that your keep notice. Body tics depict
nervousness or tiredness and may also be a symbol or getting bored. This can be
very offensive can prove to be fatal.
7. Don’t put your hands in pocket-If you
happen to have an interview while standing then avoid at all time ,putting your
hands in your pocket, as it looks quite leisurely and very causal
8. Maintain some space-Do not try to lean
too forward in order to make a connection especially if you are of opposite
sex. this might give wrong denotation.
9. Respect privacy-if the interviewer is
making a note of something while your interview is on, at no time, try and peep
what he is writing. Wait for the feedback and do not try and read it yourself.
10. Use of prop-If you are in a habit of a
holding a prop such as a pen or a pencil, make sure you put it into its
original use, which is writing, other than that do not do anything with it. For
example, tap it on the table, scribble or scratch your head.
